See, to me, it doesn't matter if the first 2-4 issues are THIN - it's more important that they GO OUT. Getting a schedule, keeping it, and growing with it, is how I have successfully grown 2 magazines in the past. SP! #1 was 4 pages. Obscurity Unlimited #1 was 8 pages. Showing the PRESENCE is what's important.
The person that asked previously why monthly is important: It's about presence. Pure and simple. Even with free PDFs going out, that won't work quarterly. People forget to come back. It is going to be MUCH easier on the build readership front, to say: Subscribe to SP! FREE!! Get an e-mail with the download link the minute a new issue is ready. All they have to do is enter their e-mail address and click, and they are on the list, no other registration info or account needed for that. And know what, those same readers will end up seeking out paper copies of the magazine. I personally am NOT WORRIED about printing a lot of paper copies, just what is needed, and what we can afford to give away to stores/convention tables to get new readers, etc. It is time we took this bull by the horns and got it MOVING, cause action speaks, Quarterly won't cut it, and there is SO MUCH more we can do with it all building a complete Website/Magazine set-up - Small Press/Indy Comics - as a lifestyle…we can do it. It will be when we can show the world we have a real PRESENCE out there, readers reading, that the rest of everything we have been trying to accomplish will start to WORK. Ok, I am gonna go open my case of beer now….

My point remains, quarterly would be better than nothing, which is what we have now. I'm not saying never go monthly. I'm saying start by setting a quarterly schedule and get your legs under you. Get a team that can put the damn thing together and put it out on schedule, and then tweak it in like you want it.

I think that the quarterly publication schedule would be good as well, so that enough info could be gathered as well as give the production team time to ensure that each issue is looking its best. Publication of SP! in both print and PDF formats gives everyone a chance to get the info. I myself, cannot wait for the newest issue.

So with what Cary offered, has it been decided what kind of magazine this will be? I too think quarterly would eb good to start off with then monthly later, once things are going smoothly. I could still update Lance Stalhburg article and include Haven info.

I'm trying to get the issue Mike was contracted to do, then, I have some plans in motion to get SP! actually moving.
I will see if I go through with those plans sooner or later, soon.
