I just wanted to get something going to discuss plans for SP! Magazine in its next iteration... I'm not giving away any secrets because we (the SP! Team AND Ian) have some big plans for the magazine, but I will say WE NEED HELP! We're looking for books to review, people to review them, contributors for content, etc... Also, if you have any interest in ad space in the magazine, keep in mind that we anticipate the first issue will be read by AT LEAST 9000 people, but we are planning for a lot more eyes on the magazine. Anyone interested in discussing any of the above should email ehendrix@selfpubmag.com to discuss.
We have some slots filled, but we can always use more (all of the above from contributors to books to ads). Forget what you know and remember, SP! will be THE source for Small Press, Indy, and Pop Culture... Just give us time! thank you, Erik Hendrix EIC SP! Sounds gr8 Erik. I am a comic book penciler. I don't have any self published books. But I have done some illustrations for small press mags. I have a 12 page comic with a superhero spoof feel to it. If you are publishing unpublished work I would be happy to submit a preview.

Thanks for the invite. My name is Nicholas P. Myers and I've got a lot of self-published stuff out there. I think it's awesome that you guys are providing an avenue for artists and writers to support one another. My friends and I have gotten together for much the same reason and to provide support to our own projects. I don't want this to sound like a solicitation so I'll just mention our website once. It's http://www.anacomics.com. I've got a webcominc being published there at http://web.anacomics.com/tpanvb called The Precarious Adventures of Newton Von Brisby. I've got 24 pages drawn and inked and I'm published up to page 18 on this Thursday, November 12th. I've also got a mini-seris that we're trying to get collected before Christmas that I previously self published called Harijan. This is available at www.indyplanet.com through www.ka-blam.com.... who I HIGHLY recommend using for getting your work published. An awesome service and great quality as well. 5 books now between my friends and I and not one disappointment. I've currently got Children of Oasis, a follow up to Harijan, on the back burner while I'm working on TPANVB. I also self-published a 312 page graphic novel called Oasis: Omnibus which I think is still available at www.lulu.com. I have a lot of work out there and I can see improvements that I've made throughout my work. The key is to just keep pushing stuff out. In my humble opinion. I'll get off my rambling and let someone else speak. Just let me know if you'd be interested in using any of my content or working with us at ANA. Thanks, Nicholas P. Myers |

my question would be: Are you making a livable wage working through Indyplanet? Dimestore's goal is to see YOU making enough $$ to live on.

At this point? I'm not making any $. This is more due to time than anything else, I would believe. I'll have to investigate you guys a bit more. I guess I didn't even realize you offered a POD option.

Not straight POD at this time, we have minimum 25 copy runs, but we're also looking at other printing options and new technologies. We work hard to stay on top of the best deals available using our collective bargaining power, and be as flexible as we can.
There's a lot of stuff in this place, but we hope it's all worth digging around for, and we're working to make the navigation better.

Nicholas, without giving away details, let's just say that the direction we're moving with this entire community is beneficial… Let's leave it at that.
If you'd like any of your books covered or would like to help with the magazine at all by contributing content (articles or whatever), email me at ehendrix@selfpubmag.com to discuss. Look forward to hearing from you. Erik Hendrix |
